Per traditional readings …

This chart shows one of the famous “Pancha Mahapurusha Yogas”, “the five planetary combinations that create great people”. They arise when Mars, Venus, Mercury, Jupiter or Saturn occupies its own or exaltation sign in the chart, while being in a Kendra or Trikona house. These are very useful, but fairly frequently occurring Yogas and they do not always give the promised effects, as the involved planet needs to be strong, well-placed and free from Malefic aspects. In your case, it is Saturn, creating “Shasha Yoga”. If the Yoga manifests not only from the Ascendant, but additionally from the Moon and the Sun Lagnas, then it will be accordingly more powerful. If Saturn is in its exaltation sign, the dispositor needs to be strong, in order to provide the results. A strong and well-aspected Saturn will bestow the good Saturnian qualities upon the person, and when the planet is in a Kendra, the characteristics tend to also show on the physical level, as opposed to planets situated in Trikona houses, which tend to manifest more subtly. If Saturn is overall strong in the chart, this Yoga is able to confer a competent and critical nature with sharp discrimination and capacity for leadership or in extreme cases even power over people, for Saturn is the planet of the masses. It gives strong work and achievement capacity. People with a predominant Saturn often have to work hard to rise in life and achieve their goals, the success comes slowly but steadily, and particularly tends to manifest in the corresponding “Mahadasha” or major period of Saturn. Shasha Yoga is commonly found in the charts of political or business leaders. A benefic and strong Saturn also blesses the native with strong insight and depth, detachment and the ability for silence, self-control and discipline, especially, if it is aspecting the Moon or the Ascendant, which is a reason why this combination is often appearing in the charts of spiritual leaders, Yogis and other reclusive type people. It also tends to give an interest in old or antique things or history. Depending on where Saturn is located it expands its effect to other areas in life. If it is in the fourth house, for example, it could indicate, that the mother is coming from a dignified, established background. If in the nineth, then the same applicable but to the father, including that the native can excel in spiritual matters or as a guru himself.

Conclusion in Real Life

  • In this horoscope, Saturn is indeed benefic as it is the Yoga Karaka for Taurus Ascendants; therefore, this planet will bring good results, although not excellent because Saturn is debilitated in the D9 and afflicted by malefics in D1. Saturn is not placed in a Kendra but is the Lord of a Kendra, the 10th Lord, placed in its own sign. Therefore, this can be considered a Sasha Yog formed in this chart but with 90% power.
  • Saturn is debilitated in the D9, however, it is in its own house, the 8, but, being a malefic house, the results can be mixed, including that Saturn, when debilitated, is too weak to act as malefic. Nevertheless, Mars, the natural owner and the dispositor of Saturn’s position in the 8th of D9, is forming a Khala Parivartan Yoga, which is one of the 3 classes of Parivartan Yogas, in this case making an exchange between the 3rd and the 9th lords, which are Mars and Venus respectively. Since this is happening in the D9, it can mean a rich husband or riches through self-efforts after mid age thereon. And, because the 9th house is the native’s position of Saturn, the 9th and 10th Lord and Karaka of work/karma, can also mean working for influential employers through native’s self efforts and/or own merit. Being the 3rd house the pillar of Khala Yoga and the most important house regarding excelling in profession, this can mean professional success for the native in the area of spirituality, teaching, publishing or even the occult or the combination of all these.
  • To find out the ultimate results Saturn will bring, we must look at the D60 and, in this case, is again in the 8th house but no longer debilitated and once again in a sign of Mars whose debilitation in Cancer in the 4th is being cancelled by the Neech Bang Yoga formed by Atmakaraka Jupiter, exalted there along with the owner of the 4th in its own sign and house! All that is reinforced by the presence of Rahu, the aspect of Ketu and Amatyakaraka (Mercury) in the 5th house whose dispositor, Sun, is in the 11th! Therefore, we can conclude that Saturn will indeed play an important and powerful role in assisting this Ascendant to excel as a spiritual practitioner, motivator or even teacher/guru of occult and/or spiritual matters, or yet an agriculturist with healing powers, as it was born to do so, happening all late in life.
D9 (Navamsha) and D60 (Shastiamsha) Charts of Christina Chalreo Breault

The native’s hand seen below confirms the above, having an imperfect Parvat Yoga. In addition, according to prevalent definition of Parvat Yoga in Vedic astrology; if in a horoscope, only benefic planets are placed in Kendra (1, 4, 7 & 10) and the 6th as well as 8th house are vacant, Parvat Yoga is formed in the horoscope. Parvat Yoga can bless the native with good results related to health, lifespan, profession, marriage, education, money, wealth, prosperity, luxuries, reputation, fame and many other good things. In this particular case, given that Sun, the natural significator of Soul & Life Giver, is strongly placed in the 10th house, we can consider this a 90% Parvat Yoga.

Parvat Yog: A self-made person, abundant and successful through life. Achievements in the area of education, charity and social services. Public recognition and praise, provisions through life. Note that the double Sun Line on Sun Mount also indicates success later in life.
